Leyland cypress

Has anyone run into cankers on Leyland Cypresses? Iunderstand the 2 most prevalent are the Serdium canker, and the Botryospharia canker. if you have seen this disease I would like to know if the trees were rubbing against each other. It seems that everyone plants Leylands almost on top of each other. In fact improper placement might be the cause of this disease. the branches rub and thus opening a wound.
In my area I have seen several leylands that have the symtoms of Botryospharia. the branches are rusty red color.
