How and where are you spreading it? Machine or by hand, near pile or across the property?? Do you have to fix any damage done during spreading?? Seed and Fert??

we are spreading by hand, on flower beds.

By hand, I would estimate the amount of time needed x labor plus material price. Basic Bid without seeing how far you are moving the material and how much hand work is needed.

21 yards for flower beds? 2300 SQ'? How thick are you spreading the top soil?

does 21 cubic yards, 2300 sq ft sound like a lot? customer wants it 3 inches deep. the flower beds are flat, no mound of anything.

21 yards....

3" = 0.25 ft

if you have 2300 square ft and need it 3" deep, then 2300 X 0.25 is the final cubic ft. Thats 575.

Because there are 27 cubic ft in a cubic yard, then 575/27 is 21 cubic yards. Add about 5% for uneven ground if you like.

Don't forget to add in your 25% for compaction.
