what type of grease or oil should i be using in a tecsumseh transmission for a walkbehind? and how much will i need. Thnaks LawnInOrder

IMO, I would put two in if you clean all the old grease out.

bentonite, theres no reason to change it, its a clay based lube that doesnt go bad.

I have opened a couple that had been left on trailers day in and day out.
What little factory Bentonite that was in them was mostly in the bottom in a puddle of water. The shift fork, Bevel and pinion gears were dry and rusted thus turning what little bit of Bentonite that was in there into like lapping compound, Not to mention metal particles from normal wear.
It doesn't hurt to open one up and check/add or replace the Bentonite especially if it's a older unit or left on a trailer all the time.
It's preventive maintenance.
