Hello - I currently have 2 aerators and was wondering the other day while aerating what other people used (looking for something easier)

And Why do you use what you use?????????????

Thanks
frank

Bluebird towable, Bluebird walk behind, and a Pluggr (cam driven)

I have a Ryan walk behind that I really like. It's a bit more complicated than a tow behind. But I am able to get closer. Most people say use a walk behind to "cut it in" with and then use a tow behind. I've found that with most small yards, I don't even break the tow behind out. Just my $.02

Pluggr here too, works better I think. Haven't used it since last Fall. Doing less residentials, going mostly commercial. still use it for some high end residential fescue jobs.

I have Bluebird 530's (yuck!). If you're looking for something easier to use (less operator fatigue = efficiency = more money) in a wb aerator, I would check out Plugr or a split-drum type aerator such as Claussen.

Sounds just like me. Residentials, what a joke. Whine and more whine. Like a baby piglet!!

Overall, lawnmowing is just not as attractive as other services we offer. Not enough money, but my hats off to the lcos who do a lot of residential.

Snapper aerator on a cam...it works forever just like the plugr.

One Ryan lawnaire IV, one Lawnaire V walk-behind aerators .Tough easy to work on machines, they seem to run and run, never die. One tow-behind Ryan.

Nothing listed above will work on 90% of the lawns in my area. We dont have the luxury of having topsoil and most lawns are planted on rock, or durn near rock. I have found a towbehind areovator is about the only thing that will penetrate and fracture the soil enought to do any actual good. Core areators just bend spoons.

I use a 72" Ryan Tracaire with a monster-mat, and a 48" Redexim Verti-drain

For most residential I use either a Ryan lawnair V or an older, wider hahn-westport heavy sob that I bought from a junkyard, and rebuilt 15 years ago. Just got a Genesis tillage shattertine aerator-man this thing is nice-will stick a tine in 8"deep under the right conditions, and $1900 cheaper than an aerway, and the tines are mounted with the proper angle, so you don't need to add 2 tons of weight, like with the aerway!:dizzy: :dizzy:

Ryan Lawnaire IV or a Lesco unit. I like the Ryan machine better.
