Out of 150+ residendtial customers I have at most 10 that will tip. I geneally bill bi-monthly & one customer tacks on en extra $50 each invoice, the other 9 or so geneally give me an extra $20 or $30 & the rest, over 140 customers, NOTHING. No complaints from them, many are 7 year + customers who I believe are happy with their service. Wondering how your customers treat you on pay day.

Monthly invoice I got 10 from one person 5 from another and pocket change from others who pay in cash and dont want the change back.
Once person I've done some small jobs for, putting an edge arround a tree so she could make a bed job $20 tip $10. Just trimming not pick up trimmings job $30 tip $15 Spread 5 bag of mulch he bought and spring cleanup plus one time cut, job $120 Tip $25.
I wasnt going to work there becasue its real small and didnt want to waste my time, but its 5min away from my house and the guy is in his 70's and just has 2 groin surgerys so I felt bad. out of that I got both his neighbors and 2 across the road for the year, I would be cutting his but he now needs the excersice. Sometimes thoes small jobs pay off..

Kirby,
Math 101.
Every 2 months.
1 cutomer $50
9 customers $30 max
Therefore per month,
1 customer $25
9 customers $15=$135
TOTAL PER MONTH MAX $160 in tips.
For 150+customers. Is that still good?

My gross is about $45,000. Tips were about $40 last year! It'll probably be less this year because a lady who gave me $20 at Christmas sold her house & moved away.

Oh crap.....who cares...I'm tired and going to bed. Congrats on the tips....

Tried the new trimmer today with no shield, finding the rocks are hitting my face more and starting to hurt! Bleeding has stopped, and suggestions?

I have a couple that give me tips on pay day, but they are also the ones that usually ask for little extras, so I guess it just kinda works out.

Then I have one old lady who was my very first customer/estimate. I went too low because I was nervous and she had already set me up with the whole "fixed income" thing. So I priced her too low but she gives me a tip every time she pays, so turns out she's one of my most profitable lawns considering how much time I spend on her lawn. I'm not complaining! :D

by the way, ive had this argument with someone about the meaning of bi monthly. according to websters, it has two meanings, the user determines its meaning. oddly enough, buy its true. bi monthly can mean twice a month, or every other month. as for my tips, i have one customer who adds $5 each month to her bill for a tip, ive got tips on landscape jobs, nothing major, $30, 40, 50 bucks. and one customer sends a xmas card each year with a smooth $50 in it.

My only tip of the year came yesterday in the form of a $50 check enclosed with the monthly payment from a customer who I had dropped, as a thank-you.

Maybe its time to drop a few more???;)

I've got some that tip a Chirstmas for my wife and children. Each year they give a 50 to each of my daughters and a hundred for my wife. Then I have one that just says my husband wanted me to leave this in the truck so just keep it. Last time it was 100 time befor 150.

Hmm..
2 tips:
-Don't spray grass over into MY yard (From a Neighbor who never trims, and mows about once a month)
-And, Don't mow in that direction - blowing toward the building. (And I always make 3 to 4 laps around so that I don't blow grass or debis at the building - saves much clean up time)

Got a fifth of Crown Royal from one guy. Still got it. I don't drink very often. Got one guy who tips like he is with the mofia or something. The guys always fight over who is going to do his job. It's pretty funny. I have had some house wives try to tip me after their husbands went to work.
Got one lady who suns on the back porch with no undies on and believe me she wants you to look. The guys always take twice as long to get the back done. LOL

I have several customers that give me extra money when it's time to get paid from them. I don't mind, just tell them thanks and go on my way. It's nice to be appreciated for the work you do. :)

The tips I get always seem to be "Look both ways before you cross the street". Wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard that one!

I have received extra money on several occassions and gift money at Christmas. One customer buys me an expensive box of cigars now and then and I get a few smokes imported from an island south of Miami.

The best gift anyone can give me is to continue doing business with us next year. That's all I want and need.

yup, tips, they give tips all the time! Don't trim to close to the flowers, don't cut it too short, don't cut it too long, etc.!

They're full of great tips!
