Charging problem got fixed thanks to everyone on here. So, now I have another problem. 2000 injected 60 inch exmark. Runs great most of the time, but will start to surge under a load. If you disengage the blades it clears right up, engage the blades and it will surge. Won't do this all the time. Last night after it started its pissy mood, the arm that goes to the throttle body was going crazy (i am assuming it is the govenor) and if held it would clear up, but as soon as I would let pressure off it would start going back and forth like crazy. Also, when it is doing this it acts as though it is rich because of the black smoke. thanks in advance.

Have you tried a fuel injector cleaner?

No. Any particular brand? Would the injector only act goofy under a load and only sometimes?

I used a fuel injector cleaner in my Kubota Diesel, and it did the trick.
I'm not a mechanic, but if it works, (or not) you're only out a couple of bucks. Any name brand should do.
