Forget taking a limousine to the prom. One high school senior drove his date in a 1992 green John Deere 8760 tractor.

"A few people made bets with me that I wouldn't do it," said Levi Rue, a senior at New Rockford-Sheyenne High School. "I guess I won them."Advertisement

Rue suggested the idea to his date, Alissa Bachmeier, last Thursday, two days before the prom. She wasn't sure, worried about her dress getting dirty.

But after Rue showed her pictures of the tractor and promised to make sure it was immaculate, Bachmeier agreed. "I cleaned it up pretty good," he said.

Bachmeier wore a lime green prom dress that nearly matched the tractor.

Rue said they drove around town and to his grandmother's house to show her the unusual chariot.

"We got quite a few people who stopped and looked and stared and waved," he said.

A few years ago a kid picked up his prom date in a Cat #12 grader. 50s model that he and his dad restored. It looked sharp!

I joked about picking up my date with a 4020 John Deere.

Back a few years ago quite a few guys drove their tractors to the last day of classes. Took up quite a bit more room in the parking lot than normal.

that's cool, those pictures that i'm sure their families took, will make great memories when they look back on it all.

Last Saturday i was out working in a neighborhood and turned to go down a street. Right infront of me there is this huge Cadillac Escalade stretch limo parked in the middle of the street picking up a girl for her prom. Had to take another road. Then it drove by me later and you could here the base of music playing and the engine sounded like it was working hard it was load. must have cost a fortune to hire.

an allis chalmers...HA i'd rather ride my bike there with my date on the handle bars...i'de get there faster and wouldn't have to worry about breaking down on the way

but theres kids around here running their tractors to school on the last day..its a funny site, atleast they don't have to worry about being towed for illegally parking

My grandfather runs a large commerical potato farm, I tried to convince him to let me and my buddy take the Deere 9420 to school the last day of my senior year but it was a no go... I would have been crushing cars on the way there! We ended up rolling in with a Deere 8420, just for kicks

So who will be the first to use a lawn mower with a small trailer attached for the lady to sit in , signed it all up it would be great advertising, dont forget to tip off the local paper photogapher so you get a front page shot. ;)

I want to see the girl who would go for that one. I had a hard time convincing my date to let us take the F650.:weightlifter:
