Well, my Dad and myself made our "pilgrimage" to the "Midwest Mecca of Mud"
that is Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, April 28th. It was the Budweiser World of Outlaws Spring Challenge, plus 360's. Absolutely awesome facility, even better racing. Fast and awesome. Some big crashes too. Everyone should visit this track at least once in their life. I know I will go back again.

Here is a shot of the Hall of Fame and Museum building, very cool place to visit before the races.

The 360's are cool, but there is nothing like watching the Outlaws down there. Even if you're not a race fan, you ought to see these guys. Doing something like 155 at the end of the straights on a 1/2 mile D shaped oval.

A shot of the pits before the races, we had great seats section E (right behind the flagstand) and in row 38, really high up with a good view of the whole track.

I only got a couple of racing shots, pretty tough to get a descent picture when they are going as fast as they were! It was a fun day at the races, even if Donny Schatz won, (I'm a Joey Saldana fan), but they really gave a good race!

That is a heck of a track. I wish we had one that nice around here. We are losing tracks like crazy. Four in the surrounding states have been shut down in the last three years.

Ha! You touched a nerve man! Congratulations on your first visit to "The Sprint Car Capital Of the World." I have never been to any other dirt tracks but from what I hear Knoxville is a great track. I go about 2-3 times a month and I never miss the World of Outlaws when they are there and this August will be my 4th year of all 4 nights at the Nationals. LOL, I'm also glad to see that you are a Joey Saldana fan. He's my guy too! You definetly need to go to the Nationals, quite the experience. I've also been in a suite and I have to say that sitting in the grandstand is 10 times better than a suite!

So were you there last Saturday? I also love sitting in the grandstand, feeling the rumble in your chest, making some noise with the crowd!

Yes, I was there Saturday. There were a lot of cars there compared to what there usually is for a WoO show. The saturday before which was opening night had some of the best racing I have seen there. In the A Main the leaders were 3 wide for a while sharing the lead.

Knoxville is a great track to watch a race but if you havent been to Eldora Sppedway, you have to make sure to fit it in your schedule. Without a doubt one of the best if not the best in the country. It would have to be between Eldora and Knoxville for the crown.
