Please look at this estimate and see if you can catch anything missing and price issues. I think the price is low since it was based on a cheaper block. I changed the detail but not the price yet. I still need to get an answer on the block cost and work out some details with the permit cost and possible excavating issue. What would you do different and how much would you charge?

5" rise and 14" tread , that seems a bit odd.

First start typing your proposals in Word and not quickbooks!

that is way too long for a quickbooks invoice. switch it to word and print it on nice paper.

58 a square that seems high. I would remove the warranty it is not worded in your favor. I would include that you are not responsible for damage to any unmarked utilities/electrical lines.

Install base stone layer 8" height and 24" deep.

That part needs re-worded, correct spelling, etc.

I've been using Quickbooks since it was DOS Program. You can still print up an estimate using it, but theres not much room to type detail. Use it as a line item proposal, and use a regular word processing program to type up the bulk description. Most people use MS Word, but if you dont have it installed, almost all computers come with a default program called Notepad. It's the same thing, just without all the fancy features. If you just need a type written proposal, it works fine.

shovelracer...how do you plan to remove the shrubs?

Thanks for the advice, yes I agree that it is a little long for quick books description. It is probably one of the longest ones ive had to do. Ive only been going into spec details for the last 2 years. Trying to get out of small stuff and into bigger jobs. There are some errors in there. The tread is supposed to be 10" not 13". That will also add a few landings. Do I really need to specify how I remove the shrubs or are you just busting me? Five years for a warranty seems a bit excessive. I could see 2 years, but a lot of situations you cant control can happen in 5 years unless the warranty is a full page excluding just about everything under the sun. How about the price? Also this is just a feeler estimate, it is not what I will present, and probably wont accept the job because of the client, it is more for my knowledge. Thanks again.
