matching up existing grass to new seed

im leveling part of a backyard for a cust...they then want it hydroseeded, but how do we match up the seed to match the existing grass?...

im will be subing out the hydroseed job but my ? is more to the point of how well will it match up?...im guessing it takes a year or so to blend in

Well, for a perfect match you'd need to know the type, variety, and specific lot #. But for most folks, just knowing the type should do it. If you can find out what name varieties are there, do so (Midnight KBG, etc).
