These are a few pics of my house and yard. I moved in less than 2 years ago and the yard was dirt, and I tore out all the junk and started over from scratch. I have been working on my yard a lot and its starting to pay off.
Neighbors stopping buy, and wanting me to come redo their lawns. My grandson loves walking barefoot in the grass, and yes I just had finished mowing it when the picture of him standing in it was taken. I mow it every other day.

looks very nice and thick! you mow high which is good!! i also think that the black mulch (or dirt whichever it is) looks really good with the lawn and house! It defines the beds rather nicely! :)

Looks like you got the black mulch like we did this year. I hadnt seen the black mulch much before this year but we've been having people stop by as well asking about it. Your yard looks really nice, keep up the work and it will only get better

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I had a couple of hickory trees taken down today, it really opened up my back yard. I guess the wife will want a pool put in now lol. I have been using Black mulch here for about 10 years. I like it because it holds its color longer especially if it has cole dust mixed in with it, and I can plant annuals in it also.

I hope you kept the wood for BBQ.

Nice work! I used dark brown mulch in the planter bed I just did. I'm working on the grass now. It's coming along. The neighbor just commented yesterday on how nice the grass looks. It's funny because last year I admired his grass, and he said he had inherited good grass from the previous owner (we both bought our houses last spring). I guess he was right.:D
jd, got any before pics?

yes I do have some before pics but there not on my camera any more so I will get them scanned and put on my computer. All of the landscaped area was dug out and edged by hand. When I bought the house it only had landscaping in front of the house. It now has landscaping and low voltage lites on all 4 sides. I use 20 watt spots and a couple of 50 watt spots and a 600 watt transformer with timer to uplight all 4 sides of the house. I'm trying to get my buddy who is in to photography to come over and take some pictures at night with it all lit up. I have tried but it takes a special camera lens and shutter speed to get the right affect at night.

How old is he? My boy will be 5 in July. He loves to help out with stuff. Can't wait till he's old enough to mow. Next year maybe?:)

He's my 15 month old GRANDSON. I dream of being able to get him into the lawn and landscape business at a very early age so when he's old enough to work he does not have to work for some dumba** supervisor, and be just another number at the time clock.:usflag:

I like that last pic the best. I grew two of those. It seems like it takes forever for them to get established, but once they start growing, they change everyday, every year. Ya never really know what your getting into when you come home from the nursery.

Hey Runz, I know what you mean I raised two of my own from seed to full grown mature specimens, and now i'm enjoying helping to raise thier offspring.

I have not had a drop of rain on my yard in almost three weeks and it is burning up fast. I used the very expensive Scott's HEAT tolerant blue grass seed this spring to over-seed with thinking it might help during the dry months. I guess that idea did not work. I think I am going to have a sprinkler system put in this fall.

Looks great is that done with a 21 inch mower and does it have some sort of striper because it look s great. Let me know because if it has a striper I would love to put one on mine

Thanks deere615, Yes I do ues a 21" mower. It is a Troybilt mulching mower and does not have a striping kit. I always mulch and never bag or side discharge. I keep the blade sharp and mow at the very highest setting.
