MTD Question

My Dad has an MTD....he was cutting his grass...turned it off to put gas in it and now it won't start. He's been trying for a while and now it doesn't even seem to want to turnover. Any thoughts on what may be wrong? It is a rider...so is it the starter?

If this is an electric PTO, did he disengage the blades?

Some possibilities...
Check all the saftey switches, seat, clutch etc.
How old is the battery? Is it charged? Clean battery connections?
Check oil level?
