I have a 2001 Exmark 52"TTHP 17hp Kawi that I picked up used with a blown engine. I put a new drop in engine on last spring and it has been running great since. Lately when releasing the drive levers to start moving forward they seem to be sticking more often. The fluid is topped off but I have not changed it yet. Is this something that changing the filter and fluid would help or does it sound like a hydro pump is on its way out?

Thanks in advance

Are they whinning real loud? Do you know if the fluid has ever been changed? What do you mean by sticking.. Are the arms them selves sticking or when you push them, it isnt moving?

Hey Chad

I should probably say they are grabbing when letting them out to move forward. Yes the fluid was changed at least once and it has around 900 hours on it now. This mower was a dealer service mower for things other than oil changes. What happened to the old engine is the guys crew changed the oil and filter but forgot to put oil back in it. Woops
No the pumps are not whinning, they are actually VERY quiet compared to my old 2002 Lazer Z which always made a hydro whine.

I know that I should start with changing the fluid and filter first but wanted to check and see if there is any other things that could cause this off hand also.

Take the dampers off and see if it fixes the issue. Maybe some grease on the lever pivot points.

I dont know of the dampers that you are talking about. I know I can find them though. Where are they in relation to the hydro pumps?

GG,
I looked right past where you said it is a turf tracer. There are no dampers on the machine. Sorry. But you can still try the grease thing..
