I have a property that is appx 461407 Sq Ft that a customer would like a bid for straight fertilizer per app. Can anybody tell me what they would charge for a property of this size. The terrain is level with very few obstructions. Thanks in adance

That is quite a property! Is that nearly 500,000 sq.ft or a typo? You should make sure that they know that there is no weed control added and that any weeds present will grow much faster. Let's see. If you want to apply the N at a 1lb rate, and you use a 30-some percent SCU product, you would use about 1500 lbs. If you pay (an average) of $8.00 a bag- you would spend $240.00. If you are going to use a basic push Lesco type spreader, you will spend most of a day (in this weather). A low estimate would be $650.00. A high one would be about $1,000.00.
Hope you get a thousand!!!

Hey Ron you'll have to show me that one. I have a brother in law living in Lowell and we will be there on the 25th.
What time of year does the homeowner want this fertilized?
I'm assuming you are in pretty sandy and hot soil right now judging from what I know about that area in August and I would try and sell the guy on a fall ap. The bid above sounds good if that is what you can get your product for but the biggest variable is who are you competing against and is this person looking for other bids. Lots of applicators use the 1/3 2/3 rule but if you can't compete at that pricing you have to adjust or get beat by Tru-Green. If you have the equipment to do the job without killing yourself, stick with the higher bid and sell the customer on the QUALITY of your work and the products you use. Good Luck
Matthew, could you PLEASE tell me what brand and where you are buying fertilizer for 8.00 a bag. I've been paying closer to 15 or 16 for 50 lbs of 24-5-11 50% poly coated from Lesco. I wan't something cheaper.
