I bought my 99 dodge ram last Nov.. with 36,000 miles and it had the usual spark knock. well two weeks ago going to a family reunion about 70 miles away I loose all power going down the pike two miles from my exit so I drove at max speed of 5 mph on the shouldere and another three to the dealer that was closed .after 3 days and another 70 mile trip I found out I had a clogged cat. and now after driving for a week and a half I have no knock what so ever. My friends F150 was knocking and it was his cat but with all the talk of Dodges spark knock I never would have guest.

The EGR valve passage usually plugs up on Dodge's too.if left unfixed, its possible to put a hole in a piston under heavy use,and it will plug the cat very quickly when the EGR doent work.I wonder if they checked the EGR valve?
