I seeded this lawn last tear with Moonlight KBG and have a part of it infested with this grassy weed. What weed is it and a good recommendation on what to use to get rid of it. Thanks for the help.

K 31 Fescue--probably--pull it out after a watering, should clump and have hairy roots, probably no rhimozones. If not let us know and take a photograph of plant on white paper and as close up as possible That BG is pretty--do you know the strain? As far as something to get rid of it--we cultivate it--its so perfect for TN. I have no idea what to use on it that will not hurt the BG.

just guessing--could be timothy, a good hay grass.
Does it look like this?

Here are some more photos to look at. Is it some kind of a brome grass?

Not a fescue and not Timothy b/c it has rhizomes. I would have to agree with you that it is some kind of brome grass. It looks rolled like a brome and has rhizomes like one as well. Could you get a pic of the ligule (google if ur not sure what that is). Also is there any near by w/ a seed head?

A suggestion if there is not a selective control is, Don't mow property for 10 days.....This grass will be quite a bit taller at that point. Now by this time have a weed swiper with some roundup mixed up @ 3% and swipe away!
Mow 3 days later :)

Not timothy, because it has rhizomes. The white sharp pointed rhizomes resemble those of quackgrass.

Thanks for the help guys. Look at the ligule photo I'm sending after looking at some other pictures I'm thinking it could possibly be smooth brome. Is there any selective herbicide to remove smooth brome?
