My best guess is "turf type" tall fescue. Course, yet compact.

If I'm right, what do I win?

the winner gets a stuffed bear from chucky cheese's...but only if you can break 20,000 points on the ski ball machine.

turf type. i really doubt it. this lawn is an older lawn. fescues maybe, but not turf type i don't believe.

Poa, Perhaps or seeding fescue.

Appears to be growing too upright to be poa, IMO.

Just your turfgrass (blue, rye - hard to tell from pictures) going to seed. Mow it a notch (1/2") shorter next cut, removing seed and some of the stems. Then raise the height of cut back up on the next cut.

New growth will mask the off-color stems as they wither and die back.....

TurfPro -- I think you might be right -- Kentucky bluegrass - Park or Marion? If it is Kentucky blue, it's definitely an older cultivar, cuz the newer ones have a more compact growth habit. ????

Not sure. Potential barnyard grass. An annual common in new seedings. flattened stems, red at the base. Does it look like this?

nope. i think its just a fescue, rye, or blue that is seeding. definitely isn't barnyard, poa, or any noxious grass. it is in many many lawns, but is a very small seeding grass.
