synthetic engine break in

i got a new 15hp kawi .. im running dino for the break in.. when do you guys switch to synthetic? (those that do)

it says change oil after initial 8 hours.. im imagining most of the break in is done by then.

those of you that use synthetic oil, how many hours u let it break in on dino first?

I would run it 50 hours before switching

I go synthetic the first change (Mobil 1 15W-50). Usually right around first 8-12 hours. :)

unless anyone has more input, i think i will go right in between both of what you guys said .. like 25 hours.

I'm of the theory that if the rings need to be seated, why do engines run so nice when brand new? I don't see them smoking either?

50 hours is the normal hours for an oil change. But I sometimes wonder why Mercedes,Lexus and other high end cars come with synthetic oil from the factory?

ya but i wouldnt doubt those engines are broken in in the factory,, at least like for a good hour.. i could see them doing this with a vette or something.
