Does anyone know where I can find a new gear head for my shindaiwa t-270. Mine has about died. My dealer said a new one there would cost me around $125. That seems a little high to me. I would like to find one cheaper if I could. Thanks

Go to Shindaiwa site and look up all the dealers in your area. See if they have a PARTED out machine that has a used head on it.
How old is this 270? You shouldn't be wearing out a head on a 270 already. They haven't been out long enough to wear one out. Are you greasing it?

I agree with Eric......I still run a t-27. Same gears on it from the day it was bought.
if your dealer has the right tools he can change the gears that are stripped,if you change all the components in it ,you might just as soon buy a complete box,125.00 is about right for a new one,Eric is right there are very few broken ones around
