I don't remember what his profile said, but it seems Grasboy is alive & well in Central Florida. Although I can see he finally agreed with us & raised his pricing- by a buck or two? I can't remember his exact deal. LOL

I could charge $11 for lawns in some parts as long as I had the whole block. Small house with one pass in front and 2 in the back.
Couldnt charge much more.

theres a company around here that runs an ad "lawn cutting starting at $10". and that is Cdn $, works out to probably $6 U.S.

they actually are a fair size operation, ive seen their trucks around. also know last winter they plowed for the first time, got killed:D

dont know if they actually cut for ten, or if that is just to get peoplel to call. my rate per cut is not what i would call "high priced", but i am no where near that number.

There is money to be made at 49.95 per month with 35 cuts a year.

Is not there a LOT of landscape maint. I.e. shearing and pruning in FLA? Once they get a foothold they can then make money doing pest apps (indoor and outdoor) fertilization, and "other" home maint. services geared towards senior citizens.

Once you understand the psyche of the retired cheapo senior citizen you can fleece them royally.

You said it. Alot of people have done that for years here. $15 to cut, but $8 to trim, $8 to edge, $5 to blow, and hedges even more. Before long they have left a small lawn with $40 and the old people don't even know what happened. I try to stay away from lawns like this myself, because I would rather a job look complete, but I understand the logic.

We offered service to a customer several years ago for $90 a month. She declined and took the $30 a cut option. Edging and trimming are included. Right now we are cutting it every 5 days. We will gross $180 this month off of a 7,000 foot flat lawn. Last month was quite a bit larger because of a fertilizer app. and mulch. She chose this and seems pretty happy with....and I am too.

Read the ad.
"$11.95 MOST lawns"
I've used this method when first starting out to get calls. I'll bet most lawns means NO lawns. Once he gets to the customers house he'll talk up the price. Good way to get alot of calls fast. He probably doesn't actually cut for that price. A good salesman just needs his foot in the door.

If this lawn guy only charges $11.95 each yard, I guess he works alone. If not how much does he pay his help, $1.50 a day??:p

I haven't seen "yards for $11.95", but I have seen this ad on a sign in a man's yard at a busy intersection:

LAWNMOWER MAN
Most yards $20
Professional lawncare
Service

I was going to sub out my apartment complex to him to put an end to this madness! I have actually seen with my own eyes a lawn care service get out of their truck and kick the sign over and I honked my horn in approval but these guys will weed themselves out before long.

He can come cut my yard, then I will have more time for my customers. Almost sounds like an add for Pizza Hut. Can I have a pepperoni to go with that lawn work too? Oh by the way, have you ever seen this dude out working? Just wondered what equipment he has, if any...LOL!

Some work may be better than no work.
And in this target area the lawns may be 10-15 minute yards.

4 for these per hour = 47.80 per hour.

WRONG!!

A good salesman should be able to justify why the customer will be paying double that (minimum) to have their yard maintained by a professional!!

But, not everyone is a good businessman in this industry, but boy can they 'cut grass'
