View Full Version : deck foot lift
i would like to suggest that exmark make the deck foot lift
standard on all the lazer model. this feature radicaly improves the machine to the point that i wouldnt use one that didnt have it now. i know its an option . but i had mine three months before i knew it was available. thanks for your time tony marks
I agree 100%, Tony! It is a MAJOR improvement in operating the machine.
Fortunately my dealer told me about this handy little item when I ordered my machine and I cannot imagine what life would be like with out it. For real.
It's perfect for those little humps and bumps and especially for the raised areas around trees.
I especially find it useful for preventing the front scalping wheels from digging on sloped areas and ditches when turning around...I always raise the deck slightly out of habit when turning around now. Heck, I ride with my right foot resting on that pedal because I use it so much.
That gizmo has saved me countless amounts of time, and arm fatigue, when cutting!
Maybe Exmark don't want to make it 'standard equipment' because they know that they can get the extra $50 for it...no problem once an operator knows what a gem it really is.
Anyone who doesn't have one already...get one now..you won't be sorry! :)

Great feedback guys. How many others would like to see the foot lift assist standard?
Thanks

I've said this all along. It's just impracticle, performance wise, not having it.

It's called an assist, so I thought you had to use the hand lever as well as the foot - I would have paid for the option if I had known it works independently as described by you guys!
Uuuuummmmmm.....Everyone!
It does hinder the lifting of the floor pan, but, thats no biggie to me.
Make them standard equipment! Same with the seats!! Suspension all the way!

This is what I've said all along. It's just to helpful to performance NOT to be on there.

I could care less about it being standard. Just make one for my 52" HP. It would be VERY helpful to have it.

It does pay for itself quickly!!!!!!
Yeah, like TLS said, it the floor pan is liftable if the deck is in 'transport mode' but does interfere if the deck is lowered.
The only drawback to this I've found is it is a little tighter to get to the grease zerk on the spring tensioner arm. No biggie!
Still, I wouldn't trade that pedal for all the tea in China...well you know what I mean. ;)
I LOVE THAT PEDAL!

I have one on my z master (same as a lazer). I couldnt use the machine without it without it! Definitly should be standard! I also keep my right foot rested on it at all times! Much easier then leaning over and grapping the lever to lift the deck!

I think it should be standard as well,. Just tac on the $50 if you want. I'm sure many don't even know it exist or don't know how useful it is or don't want to go through the "hassle" of ordering it. I think you guys really need to get that foot assist for the Lazer HP's out.....I'm still waitin'! BTW, when will it be available? And seriously, think about making it standard. I think it would also help sell more cuz the people will be that much more impressed with it and the overall machine.

Exmark,
I heard that you are now producing the foot assist for the Lazer HP's, is this true??? I also heard that the deck lift shaft weldment part #1-652014-01 is replaced by a new weldment for mounting of the foot assist??? How soon will they be available??? I need one ASAP, I used to run a full size Lazer w/ the foot assist and I sure miss it. Is there any way you could make them available now for us LawnSite guys??? Thanks, ED

EJK2352,
We have made a foot lift for the Exmark LHP 44" to 52". The part number is 103-1675, call your local dealer to place an order.
Thanks, Fred.

No offense intended but it seems like a lot of guys do use this while mowing to avoid scalping - I think Exmark should consider making it a "no hands" unit similar to Scag or Ferris and do away with the hand lift. Must not be a patented device, since I have seen it on the two manuf. units.

Fred,
Thanks for the info on the deck lift assist!!! Called dealer & he is having it drop shipped from the factory, since the distributor doesn't have it in stock yet. Looking foward to getting it on the mower. Thanks again, ED:)
Howard,
Typical 'scalping' is not a problem with my Lazer...actually far from it. :)
I've seen plenty of scalping done by Scags and Great Dane Super Surfers around here though. Any machine will scalp when used incorrectly.
It's just very convenient to have the foot assist when encountering curbs, raised drives and walkways, exposed roots, water meter covers, and small humps (like where trees were removed) and for getting in and out of wide ditches....and for anti-scalp wheel clearance when doing 'zero turns' on uneven terrain.
Please, EXMARK, do not remove the deck height adjustment quadrant! :D

I've got the Z with the 60" and from the sounds of it, the assist is a must. Does anyone have to part number for the 60" and is it an easy install or should I let the dealer handle it.
Thanks, Raymond
Oh! Great machine, it has the full respect from the green industry around these parts.

Southern Lawns,
You asked for it, you got it. The 103-0149 Deck Lift Assist fits 52", 60", and 72" Lazers, and the part sells for $50-60 dollars at your local Exmark Dealer.
P.S. very good feed back, Fred.
I forgot to tell about installing it to your mower (thanks Howard). It takes about 1-2 minutes, it just bolts on. All you need are 2 half-inch wrenches. Instructions are included.

I also think it should be standard, when i bought my lazer my dealer gave it too me.
Also i don't like the no hands contaption on the scag, i've spent alot of time on scags and definitly like the way the hands and feet work together on the exmark;)

Thanks again,

Where do they have these prices? My dealer wants $100.00 for it. It's been a few years from the post date. The part has doubled in price I guess...

Additionally, can someone sum up if the installation is still "two half inch" wrenches?? I would love to install this on my Lazer Z HP (LHP serial 286***) can I get one for my 48" deck?

I recently bought a used Lazer Z 48". found out later its a '98. but it runs good and haven't had any major problems (yet) any way my question to the rep is, do you offer an adapter kit for the new air filter for such an old machine. I can't keep tha filter clean.

Hey Tater, you may wanna start a new thread so other people can find help in your question. I think Exmark will see it, but this was a "deck foot lift assist" post and your air filter question will be hard to find.
If you do repost, lemme know, because I would be interested in the adapter kit for a Z HP too!! :-)

Yes, just happened to be in the right place at the right time, this time. I keep checking with my dealer (where I got this one) for a second one. They are as rare as frog's hair

Z200,
The foot lift assist for the Lazer HP models is a little more involved. the part number is a 103-1675 (and yes, the price has gone up significantly to about $110). It involves replacing the front right deck lift arm and then installing the foot pedal.
They might not all be necessary, but here's what I'd have 'at the ready'.
(2) 3/4 Open end wrenches
(1) 11/16" Wrench
(1) Regular screw driver
(2) 1/2" wrenches
I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Lenny

Sweet Tater (I like mine with brown sugar and marshmallows BTW),
Yes, there is kits offered for most of the engines to upgrade them from the standard air filter to a heavy duty air filter. Why don't you do as Z200 said and start a new thread and give me your model/serial number and I should be able to tell you for sure whether or not you can do it. I can tell you it will run between $300-600 depending on the engine.
Thanks,
Lenny

I have the Toro Zmaster with 60" turbo force deck. This deck is so heavy not having the foot assist would make it a pain to lift with just the hand lever. I will not buy another unit without the foot assist. (maybe I'm just getting old). I also like having the Zstand unit which allows me to lift the deck to get under to clear debris or replace blades anywhere. Does exmark have a option like the Zstand??
