29 hp. Fuel injected, to a 60 deck. Cuts clean as can be, and can run up to 10 miles per hour. Yes, under normal conditions, it van mow this fast. Of course razor sharp blades help in this equation.;)

26 hp diesel yanmar on a 60" deck on my 2001 Dixie Chopper.
The cut is great at up to 12 MPH if you have smooth enough turf and the blades are sharp, and of course double blades. :)

25hp kohler,60" DIxie,with normal cut height,and single blades,power is adequete,with doubles,or thick grass,the power isnt there.Any hill at all,and it just bogs,unless you slow down.

I got a 23 hp kohler and under extreme conditions as all this rain we been getting it has sucked for power. I would recommmend 26hp and up when u consider buying an exmark lazer. I smell a trade in commin next year or a sale to get more power

No, it's actually the Kohler. It's called a 26, but they say it's actually rated at 29 hp. Emission reasons or something like that. It's the Exmark Lazer EPS.

31 hp Lazer XP, with doubles (thank you eric) no power problems, can do 11mph but actual mowing speeds are around 8-9mph

25 hp Kohler, never run into anything it wouldn't handle. I might look into the 26 EFI on the next mower I get, you can never get too much horsepower.

18 HP Kohler Magnum on a 44" deck Groundsmaster. Handles the deck great, but on hills, it doesn't have a prayer...Not quite enough HP to get it up the steep stuff. Maybe I'll get a pic of what it can go up and what it can't.

Actually it’s 3 extra usable hp over the 25hp model. But they rate the mower at 26hp for CA. emissions.
And I am running the biggest Kohler I can get on my mowers. ZTR’s and W/B’s

LGF-your right, and that qoute from Kohler reinforces what Ive always said about the 25,it isnt a 25hp engine. The 26 isnt 29-its 26-725cc's is not enough for 29hp at 3600 RPM's on an air cooled motor.Even the 27kawi is 750cc,and its L/C.The 25 Kohler is more like 22 at best, and of course the 26 has 3 more usable HP,from the seat of pants feel I think the 23 kaw has 3 more usable hp than the 25 Kohler too.
kohler 20 hp 52 deck lazer. it takes hay to slow it down. run doubles and high test.sharp sharp

I currently have one dixie powered by a 25hp kohler on a 60" deck and two with 26hp diesels on 60" deck. the kohler will pull down compared to the diesels but handles normal grass at 10mph. speed. However if you are running a gas engine get the most power or the engine with the best torgue cruve, especially on a 72" machine.
A good example and a engine you might want to look at is the 29hp kawasaki efi. I tested out one of these on a 72" bladerunner mower a couple of weeks ago and it was very strong and exceptional on fuel savings!
