View Full Version : Anyone know anything about 3pt John Deere Tillers?

I am looking for a tiller for my boomer which is a TC24D. Something like that at least. My snow blower is 51 inches wide and I located a used JD 3 pt tiller that is roughly the same (stepped it off) size. It looks pretty clean and says a 450 or 540 on the tiller - can't remember! Anyone know if this would work? Value?

i don't know any of the model numbers you list, but this spring was my first time using a 3 pt tiller on my 1975 20 horse jd garden tractor, and it is great!

If it is a newer tiller I can say for sure that it is made by Maschio and just painted green. Maschio is an Italian company and they manufacture quality equipment. As far as the size goes I am not familiar with the JD numbers.

The 450 tiller is made for a lawn and garden tractor, the 550 is made for a compact tractor like you boomer. eather one will work it's just that the 550 was made to deal with a cat one 3-point were as the 450 was desinded for a cat-0 3 point.

A JD 450 tiller in nice shape sold on ebay 2 weeks ago for $1089.00 .
The JD450 should accomodate either cat 1 or cat 0 3pth , both using 540 PTO. The JD550 tiller is an older tiller and is a lot heavier. Both the JD450 and JD550 tillers are 50in .
