I have a kawi FD661d that I have cleaned the carb and adjusted the valves and now when I shut it off it "diesels". Does any one have an idea what I have done to cause this?

Did you set the valves at TDC to .010" ? Could be idling a little high now since you cleaned the carb out.

Yes I used tdc to adjust the valves. It could be a high idle but it does not sound like it. I also think that the top end has lost some rpms. I guess I need to get a tach and see what they are. Anyone know where or who makes a good hand held tach.

and Stihl make good hand-held tach. Pricy but worth the money. Also over heating contrubutes to dieseling. Check your cooliong system.

Temp guage is reading normal. Everything else seems ok. It only started after the carb job???????

Does this carb have a fuel shutoff solenoid that was improperly installed/modified?

Yes the carb has a fuel shut off solenoid, it was remove and then reinstalled. It just screws into the carb. I do not thimk that I mess that up, but it is possible. Is there a special way to install the solenoid???

I don't know about a "special way", but-
An engine requires fuel to run on.
The solenoid is supposed to shut off the fuel supply to the Main Jet.

Are you shutting the engine off at higher speed so the excess fuel vapors are getting "purged".

This is the tach we use on all our rental equipment and I keep one in my box for checking units.
There is no special way to install the solenoid.
