Hi Everyone,

I need to finetune my referrals................from time to time, my clients ask me to refer them to a lawn sprinkler company, tree service, snow removal, exterminator, etc.

If I get one of the companies some business, should I get a "piece of the action", i.e. some kind of cut or finder's fee?

How do I figure on an amount if I do this?

Sure! Take a bit. BUT, this assumes you are soley responsible for hiring an insured, reputable company and making sure they do a quality job. Usually, you'd get a quote from them to do the work and present it to your client and add, say, 10-15% - the cost for your judgement and responsibility for the job to be completed. All of it is on you and not the home/business owner.

At least this is how I understand it.

*edit* I'm assuming you are also doing work on the site in this scenario- i.e. hiring an irrigation sub if you're doing a landscape job, for example.

Take a closer look at subbing out these jobs. Make sure the quality meets you and your customers standard.
