Man called about shredding his 5-acre lot. It's about 5-6 feet tall, but nothing a tractor/shredder won't take care of. To any of those who do any shredding, what do you normally charge per acre? I was thinking $75/acre, but I could be wrong. Thanks for any help.

In my area I would get at least 1,000 (200 per acre). Gotta remember never know what hides under the weeds and brush. One stump can ruin a whole month worth of profits.

Wow. I wouldn't argue with $200/acre! I've taken that into consideration about what lies beneath the brush. But obviously, $200/acre sounds way better than $75/acre. Thanks a lot.

Where are you located? Will you be renting a tractor ab bush hog? Rental will probably be at least 200. Plus if you break you pay to fix.

I do enough to warrant owning my own tractors. I have a 1980 2040 model John deere. Its what i started on.

Saved and bought a 2007 4120 john deere. With the front loader. $25,253 for tractor with loader. My bush hog cost me $2,500. The trailer was $6,500.

I make sure that I at least make 130 per hour. I shoot for 150 to 175, and every now and then get luck and hit 200. Nothing on a tractor is cheap to repair. And if you bush hog you will tear stuff up. Its not a matter of if. Its when.

Just because you cut it once does not mean if you go back in a couple of months to redo, that the job is hazard free. Someone ditches a wheel and tire on the land and you have a potential repair bill waiting to happen.

Thanks KJones. I've worked hard to get where I am, but I still wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the good Lord's blessings.

Located in the south. My dad has a 1964 Ford 4000, it's in good shape, too. We don't normally shred, but since this lot is within 1/4 mile of our house, we figured we could make some extra money. You give good advice, too. Gotta plan ahead for any problems that may arise while shredding.

Well thank you. Lol. I just dont want to see anyone lose money. Oh yeah keep some raid on the tractor. I always stumble across yellow jackets. At least once a week here.
