Anyone had good/bad experience with Engineaire air filters?
I just ordered their Severe Duty Filtration System for $150.50 including UPS shipping.

Supposed to include turbo unit, canister filter, brackets, carb elbow, hose, and filter minder. I understand that their filters crossreference to Donaldson.

They work great. I have seen results of two machines in the exact same conditions. One with the precleaner and the other one without. After several hours the one with has a totally clean air filter and the one without is filthy.

I have the 23 hp kawasaki, and they don`t have the Donaldson type filters for it, but they have a precleaner that I bought. I am very interested in this because of during leaf season, with the ultra vac, the air filter gets dirty real quick, this is supposed to help keep it clean. We will see!!!!!!!!! Hope it works.
Cleaner air going into motor= cleaner oil, and longer life, plus the air filter is supposed to last longer. If this works it should pay for itself quickly. The air filters are 19.00 each. :D

Is there any place online to buy them??
My dixie chopper has a pre cleaner, but it quit working. I cant seem to keep the prop moving. But it did a great job when it worked.

I, and a friend of mine both got the engineaire filter for our 23HP Kawi's and after aprox 1 week of operation we both had the stud that holds the housing on break off. Simple enough to repair (just drilled out the hole and inserted a bolt w/locknut), but annoying nonetheless.

Way to dig up an old post.....
It's been 2.5 years with the enginaire filter I originally posted about. Yes, I've had clean filters but, ever since I put it on, it seems like my engine lost a bit of power when I got in really thick stuff.
I decided to do something about it. Looking at the actual filter design compared to the original Kohler filter, there is not as much actual filter area. Also, they way the paper element is wound around a smaller radius core, I think this is further restricting flow, compared to the Kohler original filter. I would love to put both filters on a flow bench and compare.
Nonetheless, here is what I designed. I bandsawed off the "good part" of the Engineaire unit and built it into a new canister that holds two (2) standard Kohler filters. Most the stuff I had around the shop, but I had to buy a foot of 8" dia PVC pipe. (I had a Kohler sticker from some other project...dunno what.)
Taking it out in some thick grass today, there is a (positive) difference in power. Happy with the results. Hope this is an aid to someone.

I know this is really old but that is a cool air filter mod for that TT! Jet Boater, if you're still around, did you have to adjust your carb or jet it to make it run right after this filter install?

Good thing I get notified by Email!!! Haven't been here in awhile.
No carb adjustments. Still using just as shown after 4 years. Had to take to the shop a couple months ago and ended up being a leak in one of the intakes to the cylinder. But filter is still working great.
PS - I got got rid of my Jetboat and got a 225HP tri-toon. Must be getting old! Guess I'll have to change my login. ;-)

Wow! That looks like a modified Shop Vac on top but if it works it works.
