View Full Version : Best cut for a Scag 36 wb

Hi I just bought a scag 36" walk behind. Right now I believe it still has the factory blades and it leaves clumps of grass on top of the grass. What should I change I have researched that the high lift blades seem to work the best for most of you. Now should I be using those with a mulching kit (which is just a plate ) and would the deflector being down affect this also. I would like to hear your opinion please.Thank You

I don't know if the Scag mowers come with hi-lift blades or not. I did buy a couple "stock" sets of blades for my old-azz scag and the airfoils on them didn't look like they have as much curve to them as the blades that my exmarks came equipped with.
Mowing wet grass can leave clumps...
A true mulch kit uses more than just a discharge block off plate. You should not be using high-lift blades with a true mulch system, they make mulching blades for that.
