Bad Boy 52" WB - Research and Development?

Have an opportunity to purchase a Bad Boy 52" WB for around $1000. It was for research and development at the factory, not sure what that exactly means. It has never cut grass. It is 4 - 5 years old. It has hydro drive and a floating deck. The dealer has completely gone through the unit. Cannot offer warranty due to age. I have never had a WB before but always looking. Seems like an OK deal. What opinions does everybody have? Should I buy it?
