52" Scag WB as first mower?

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had any comments on this mower. I've been scanning the classifieds for a while and came across (2) 2001 Scag 52" walk behinds with a sulky for $1000 each. Supposedly, each unit has less than 600 hours. I'm going to assume that they are both belt driven for the price. I'd rather have a hydro, but for $1000, it would work great for a first mower then a back up in the future?

my first mower was a scag 48" wb, belt driven. It was a great mower however now having hydro I will never go back. Although we still have that belt drive. Its great for getting started. My problem was that when I had bought I didnt realize the previous owner had dropped it and bent the handle slightly which affected the brakes which in turn affected making lines and turning but other than that it was great. Good luck!

i had a 52'' scag as my first mower. It worked out great . Is still have it. It was hydro though
