Alright, I've got John Deere 316, with a Kohler 341AQS single piston eingine. I recently had to take the engine apart to service the front PTO oil seal because it was badly worn. Along the way I replaced both valves because of them being burned out, and a new set of piston rings. Half way along I noticed while the block was laying down on the work bench the governor contorl linkage got jammed against the carb. I loosed up the pal nut, and it unjammed. Now with the engine all back, it starts perfectly, with high compression, but once I finished letting the engine warm up, and I throttle it up, the engine just takes off, with no help from the governor.
Now could I have damaged the governor, or simply bent the tab on the governor shaft? Will this require breaking down the engine again? Please HELP!! Matt
