Are you getting spark from the plug ?

from what i can tell, i'm not getting any spark. should it be easy to see?

If you are holding the body of the plug to a ground point on the engine while pulling the rope you should see a nice blue spark jumping across the gap.

You didn't mention what type unit this engine is on but there should be a white wire from the engine to the unit harness. Dis-connect this white wire (kill switch wire) and check for spark again. If you now have spark there is a problem with one of the safety switches.

If you still have no spark with this white wire dis-connected the ignition coil (Module) has taken a dump and needs replacing.

its on a 2003 bobcat classic model number 934-011 i think right of the top of my head. there is a plug on the side of the engie with 2 white wires and 1 black wire. is this what youre talking about?

Is that the only wires you see ? Is this unit electric start ?

i see what youre talking about coming out of the engie. its then goes into a plug with 2 wires. how can i disconnect the white wire without messing up the plug?

Just un-plug the whole connector then check spark again.

You can check each safety switch by un-plugging them and using a multimeter set on ohms. Test lead on each leg on the switch, They should read open then closed when you activate them.

well, there still wasn't any spark after i unplugged the safety switch. i have an old kohler 15hp engine. can i use the igniition coil module off of it?

If it looks the same go for it.....Set the coil air gap at the magnet with any business card. They work just fine.

I have a CV25 head gasket job out back I need to get on, Will be back here later this eve.

Good Luck

I think you need to go back into the carb and check the float for sticking or trash in the float needle valve, Check the fuel tank for trash and flush the fuel lines then replace the fuel filter.

whatever was in the carb must've jarred loose because its running better then ever now. i did clean everything out the gas lines, carb, replaced the fuel filter. i hope that it continues to run. thanks for the help restrorob. you definitely are a life saver.
