We will take Independence Day off. Since it is on a Wednesday, we will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Too bad we couldn't tie it into a 3-day weekend, but oh well. p.s. Never forget 911.

why would any one work on a major holiday? July 4th ranks up their with Labor Day, memorial day, Christmas and easter...

Yeah it stinks thats it falls in the middle of the week

instead of working 5 8 hours days, pull in to 4 10 hour days....I know it won't work with everyone

I'm taking the 4th and the 5th.
It will mean working Sat though. It's alright......I'm in no condition to be working on the 5th.... especially in the sun. I'll find some non-field work to do.

I give 'em 1 day to pick up the fireworks in the yard, after that it's fair game for the mulching blades of death.

I just "HOPE and PRAY" I "GET" to work the fourth of July. It has rained for almost two weeks straight. We're now under flash flood warnings for the next 2 days. Later, Tony

Just pretend it's raining (even if it's not) and take the day off!! So you work Saturday big deal.

My first year in biz I worked the 4th...what a mistake...talk about being non-motivated. The upside was I picked up 3 6-packs from sympathetic customers  Stopped at noon...

Cool season grasses are barely growing now anyway...

Sorry for our Oklahoma friends -- We could use the rain up here instead. Without my permission, my wife (office manager) posted a note yesterday on the time clock saying my guys will not work on the 4th & the 5th. I was hoping to just take off Independence Day only so we could get ahead and maybe have a couple of 3-day weekends off in August. Oh well.

Unfortunatly this year we will be working. We will modify our schedule as wednessdays are 10 hr day normally. Wish we could take it off but we are so far behind in extra work that there is no way to take a day off. we are already working on saturdays and won't work myself or my guys on sundays.
In a way it is a good thing but Man will it be a pain.

I already posted here, I'm working on the 4th, but I too am happy to see others "admit" that they are working on the holiday. I'm happy for you guys that are at a place in their business that they can shut down in the middle of the week for a day off and be OK. Many of us CAN'T. But some of you guys get so defensive about it being a "holiday" and what it means to the country, etc. and that we are sinners for working on it... Well B.S. You are the same people that would be PISSED if the restrauant you were going to was CLOSED on the holiday, or the gas station, or the fireworks stand. Sometimes working on hoildays is just a fact of life and people that have to can celebrate after work. This goes for any hoildays.

Only for an emergency.

I'm making an effort of avoid working on holidays, especially if the holiday has meaning behind it.

So I will work on St. Patty's day.

I will be out working all day, weather permitting. There is just so much work on the list that needs to get done soon so I cant really afford to take a day off right now.

I asked my wednesday clients if they were having anything going on on Wednesday. None of them said they were, and that if I wanted to work on Wednesday they were fine with it, and if I didn't then come Thursday. With all the rain we have been getting lately, I have been taking every dry chance I can come by to get some work done. If Wednesday is sunny, I'll probably work a half day at least. My plan is to work in the morning on Wednesday and then go to work after lunch on Thursday. That way I can stay out a little later than normal Wednesday night and don't have to lose a bunch of sleep.

Yes, I'm sure you would, but I don't take accounts like yours to start with. Any one that uses the F word to my face better be able to back it up.

One commerical property and some rental properties are on the list so thats not an issue at all. Doing work on holidays involves communication with the customer and what they were ok with and most are fine with that, they all know how busy my company is and they know what we try to get done.

True...well we haven't seen much rain here really at all since mowing started in April....

It don't matter to me, and really most people tend to hit the pool or be out somewhere during the day on the 4th, I don't think anybody really cares if you mow unless you show up at 7am...

2 lawns in the morning. One of the two really wanted me to mow because he is getting married and having a party at his house on Friday. He said he wanted to give the grass time to grow before the party.:dizzy: The other lawn is right next to this one so I will mow it to avoid two trips the to same spot.

Happy 4th to all :usflag: :usflag:
