cut your own lawn?

I was reading a couple of posts, and a few mentioned that they hire someone to do their lawn. Anyone else around do that?

I don't know. I'd be surprised to hear if more than a few hired someone to do their own lawn.

That would be a like a plumber with a clogged toilet calling in another plumber to unclog his. I just don't see that happening much.

Matt cuts ours. He's pretty finicky on how he cuts the back. The front of our yard though wouldn't win first prize. Our beagle keeps it from looking its best.

I do my own. I live on a busy intersection in my neighborhood. It's free advertising and nobody can do it any better than me!

I do my own but it always seems to be last on my list. My wife jokes and says "hey do you know where I can find a good lawnguy." I am better now I make it part of my regular schdule. Right now I'm cutting it twice a week. I'll be glad when things slow down a little.

Same as Shepperd, I cut my own. I am on a corner with a pretty busy street, so good advertising. I have had people come by and ask us who cuts our lawn, so good advertising. Doesnt pay to good though! And the owner is real picky......LOL

My wife said she would take of the lawn this year. She's afraid of the Walkers ( Thank god, I wouldn't want her on them anyway) I gave her a spare 48" Exmark to use, I think she's mowed it once.

I cut my own, like crazygator I am on a main road leading into town, so I get lots of traffic by the house, including lots of local LCO's. Several of them are trying to mimic my striping but they just can't do it the same as me. I am picky about how my lawn looks, and if you think I'm picky you should hear my wife when the neighbor cuts his and blows clippings over on our driveway. She hates when he mows the 3' strip between our drives before I get to it, she has informed me that I am to mow it before I mow the rest of the lawn, because he makes such a mess of it.

In January of 1999 because it was incredibly green. We had a warm spell so I got out the sprinkler and high-nitrogen fertilizer.

Boy, it was GREEN.

In the spring, it got so green it almost turned BLACK!!!

Then the drought hit and I didn't have time to water. Summer '99= too much fert+no water= FRIED, game over.

I cut my own when I have the time, which is not as often as I would like. Mine, like many of you is left for last. Sometimes, it gets done in the dark, but still looks good.:p

I cut my own. Live in the country and have to mow about 1.5 acres. Don't want to pay someone big city $$$ to mow mine.

And besides, thats how I unwind after mowing all week. I find it relaxing to mow mine, as I don't have to get to the next job, and I can stop, go inside to cool off if I want too, no one is watching me, and I just flat enjoy it.

Sometimes it is relaxing to mow my yard,no trailer ,busy streets,etc.Either i will crank it up and run fast or take my time and put a beer in my cup holder..:cool:

I have some of the nicest turf around.

with all the rain we've had my grass is lush green.

I cut mine on the highest setting the ole lesco 48 has.

and I double cut it at a 45 degree angle to the road.

it gives great stripes whichever way you are going down the road.

My crew and I cut mine, plus we have a larger lawn care company across the street... The manager of that company has us mow his personal lawn. He says we do a better job than his crews. :)

I mow my own. My yard is where I experiment with different angles on my stripes or even stripe circles or whatever I want to do to it. I get lots of comments from friends & neighbors that they always look at my yard when passing to see what pattern I have mowed last.

I live with my girlfriend and she has someone else cut it. She has known this guy for years and he has been cutting her mom's. Next year, I hope that I answer the phone when he calls in the Spring, cause that gives me the opprutunity to tell him that I will do it from now on. :cool:

I dont know Cos. You might want to request that he cuts it on a Saturday. This way you can sit on the deck and make sure that things are done correctly. If Sat'day is not a good day for you, than you might consider recommending some stipulations as to how you know it should be done and see if he still hangs around.

I saw a cute Blonde in a truck when I was at lunch today and I thought about getting a quote from her. I thought that a garden of beauty is what we all want anyhow. :laugh:

This kinda goes with the cliche : never buy a vehicle from a mechanic... it's always the last to get worked on, or mantained.

I DON'T mow mine, acually i live in a condo and they have someone that does it, but i think I've decided after two weeks ago when they cut stipes that looked like this ) and totaly scalped my back yard that I'm going to bid on it for next year.

Our shop is next to our home and our crews mow it with me on thursday morning . I bring the Donuts and coffee, we have our weekly meeting then hit the road

I mow my own also, why the heck would I let my competion have it?? That would look pretty bad if here you are in this line of work but don't even mow your own yard..lol
