I just bought this mower and it has a blown 15 HP Kohler command engine (CV15T-41608). I know this mower was available with a Kawasaki motor back in 2003 and that is what I would like to replace it with. Can anyone help me out with what model engines would bolt directly up to the mower? I was hoping to get one of the new KAI series engines in either 13 or 15 hp. The mower model is 30178 and it has a fixed deck, gear drive, and T-bar controls. It looks like the deck where the engine mounts has additional mount holes that are just a little further out on each corner where the current Kohler mounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I bought this mower used and tried to go back to the place it was purchased to have them help and they were pretty worthless on the engines that would fit on it, and I’d like to do this fix on my own.

The one above is a 15hp kawi ... not sure if the bolting pattern is the same but I would imagine it is. Not sure if you need electric start, clutch, etc. but if you do then there are engines at that website to match. Just measure your crankshaft length and diameter and you should be good to go!
