Looks very natural which is a good thing. Are any of those plants new? Many of them are a same size. 21yards, thats alot of mulch for a single job, i've havent done that much yet.

All that mulch is shredded hardwood the plants in the first post are around 1 year old. Not installed by me. I have my brother help me out on anything over 8 cubic yards.

we just finished one with 10 yards in front and 22 more going out back. How thick are you spreading it ? That looks like more than your saying... we go min 3 inches thick unless just doing a spring refresh on it.
I do like the black but cant find it here. Mulch manufacture would probably dye me some if i bout xx yards. might just do that. Right now we are using natural brown colors. Thanks goodness people got away from that red crap.
wow it seems like you guys down south dont have died stuff weve done close to 600 yards of just the died black stuff this year

Yea whenever I see red mulch i think of MC Donald's. I was just freshening up most areas and a nice 3" on their new garden addition seen to the right in the first picture in the first post. I need to get a bed edger I'm tired of edging 200+ feet by hand.

If anyone down south wants to get rich, just start recycling wood and dying it black. People up here pay to dump their scrap wood, usually $100.00 a pickup truck. Then the recycler turns around and sells it as mulch.

Those Jobs Look Good, A Lot Of Wheelbarrow Loads. I Personally Like Cypress Mulch But It Is Hard To Come By In Tenn. Every Business In Our Area Has Red Or Black And It Reminds Me Of The Play Ground At Mcdonalds When We Were Kids. Did You Bed Edge Those Beds Before You Installed The Mulch? If Not An Easy Way To Keep The Edge Looking Good Is To Take A Stick Edger With A 5 Point Blade And Go Around The Beds With The Blade Facing The Grass Cutting A New Edge Will Make The Beds Really Pop And Ease You Trim And Blow Time When Doing Lawn Maintance. I Call It The Poor Mans Bed Edger. Funny Thing Is I Saw A Guy At Service Master Doing It On An Install And I Know They Can Afford A Bed Edger.

Yes I did bed edge. What I do is walk the edge with my stick edger (weak) just to get a line then come back and work it with a shovel. From the angle of my pictures you cant really see the edge.

I have installed virtually all black mulch so far this season. The customers here seem to really like it.
I think it looks great and contrasts with the plants real well.

Here is a before and after of a job I did last Saturday. I had to run my wheelbarrow up a ramp and then up a slope in Pic 494.

I don't know if they are supposed to be there, but those look like weeds poking out still in the bottom right corner.
Also, you should have put more effort into making it look "level" along the retaining wall where the lights are.
In any case, the customer should rip most of those shrubs out and re-do them. It looks like someone just threw plants down wherever.

I meant to say that I did not blow everything down and do the final detail work when I took the pictures I will get some more pictures tomorrow. from what I could tell the homeowner was a do-it-yourself kind of thing. Yes the "weeds" are supposed to be there lol she told me not to take them out and that she liked the color lol.

Looks great. But IMO a nice thick green lawn would look so much nicer with that stone wall.
