4 cycle trimmers

One of my trimmers just gave out on me, it was a crap trimmer that i bought for like $90 and knew i shouldnt have. I' ve tried everything to get it to start, the only way it will run is if i run it hot and don't put enough oil in.

Anyway... Im looking for a new trimmers and was planning on either buying an echo or stihl but came across a 4 cycle cub cadet trimmer for only like $189. The fact that it is a cub cadet trimmer makes me worry but i was probably gonna go for the entry level stihl or echo anyway (both around $200)

Do any of you have good or bad critiques on 4 cycle trimmers? Should I play it safe with the echo or stihl or try out the cub cadet?

The Cub Cadet is basically a Ryobi unit, POS! Dont even bother. The $189 price tag should tell you something.

If you want a 4-stroke (one that you dont mix oil and gas) then the only units to look at is the Honda and the Robin. Stihl and Shiny both make ones that you still mix oil and gas that are nice units.

I was wondering, too, if the 4 strokes are decent. Are they heavy to lug around all day?

I have a stihl FS55 which I bought used for $50.00. This is a great machine and I liked it so much I bought a new stihl blower. I will buy another when this one wears out.

The STIHL Fs100RX is as light if not lighter than most 2 cycle units. Very powerful with a lot of torque.

I've never checked them out, but have considered looking at them. Are they quieter than the 2-strokes, and how about the reliability?
