knock in engine

I am running a 25/60 Super Z with the Kaw 25. The last couple days i've been mowing, i noticed a different noise. After a day of mowing, i idled down and just listened to the motor to hear a random "clanking" coming from the motor. Has anyone ever heard of this, or maybe not be as bad as I am thinking?? I am taking it the the dealer to get it looked at Monday. I am hoping the warranty is still in effect. What is the warranty time on the engine? Any help is welcomed!!!

Definitely don't run the engine and get it to the dealer asap.
It could be a variety of things, some not so big, some big.... it really needs to get diagnosed.
The engine warranty is 2 years from date of purchase.

Thanks, I got it to the shop today, they're gonna call me tomorrow to let me know just how bad things are. The letter i got from hustler regarding my warranty states it in effect till March of 2008....would that be the mower itself or does that also include the engine?

The engine has a 2 year from date of purchase warranty.
The tractor does also.
We only warranty the tractor, not the engine, but the dealer does both.

well come to find out, it was not the engine at all....the bearings in the idler pulley were coming apart and causing the "knock" directly under the engine. Man was i relieved!!! The parts and labor were completely covered by warranty, and i am once again a happy Hustler Mower customer. Thanks for all your help.
