HELLO Considering purchase of ford ranger 2007 model opinions .
It is a new body shape and mechanical package for 07
Model i am considering is 4x2 but it is the derated 4x4 model therefore it has bigger brakes ,bigger engine bigger, towing capacity than the base model which is very poor by comparison .

specs 3.0lt diesel direct injection ,twin cam , variable valve timing , 4 valves per cylinder , intercooler ,variable vane on turbo [operated by computer]
HP 160
Torque 380 Nm from 1800 rpm [do not Know ft lbs ]

Towing capacity over 7000lbs with sway control fitted
[all trailers over 1600 lbs require brakes it is law ]
[trailers over 4400lbs require brakes all wheels ]
Towing weight 4 my application is 4000lbs

Tray size is 8 ft x 6 ft [flat style fits above wheels ]

You are fortinate to have diesel as an option. Diesel in not an option in North America on the Ranger. It looks like a winner to me.

I just bought a 2007 Ranger reg. cab 4wd with 3.0 V6 gas, if they had a deisel I would have bought it in a heartbeat.. but alas our country has something up their ass about deisel engines.

Yeah, that would be great. The closest thing I've seen is the Jeep Liberty with a Diesel, but I was surprised to see that it was only estimated at 27 MPG

Supposedly, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is coming out in a Diesel, too, but I'm not sure of the MPG.

Isn't Dodge putting the 5.9L Cummins in their 1500 next year?

^ you will, my brother is a engineer for a bearing/roller company. they're tooling up to begin production as we speak. he says should be going into the f150 and explorer. i think this will really help ford as long as they do it for economy reasons and not hp like they're doing the in superdutys.. we need low hp vehicles that get some mad mpg. think of all the utility companies that would jump on that

Not the 5.9, but some flavor of V-6 Cummins turbo diesel goodness.:cool2:

We drove deisel rangers in Afghanistan. Here is a pic. They also had a 4x4 that sat higher than this one. It is also a 4x4.

They were great. good mileage, power, esp for the mountains were we operating in.

hello, the U.S. may also see the diesel in the Mazda B series .Ford has a financial interest in mazda motor co. Typically what ever mazda produce in the small vehicle range ,ford will rebadge for australia to increase there range .
The ford/mazda diesel in the new vehicles has been out apparently for 1--2 years in asia and the arab countries .
