I'm looking into getting uniforms for my company but I just have a question first. Would it be better to get high-quality, but expensive uniforms or just cheapo cotton t-shirts? My sister works at lululemon and they make amazing clothing that keeps you cool in 90* heat and stretches like crazy to avoid tearing. Should I get shirts from there or just regular t-shirts w/ my logo?
Thanks.

It depends on your budget now and the years to come.

I think I'm going to skimp this year and go with cheapo t-shirt and get good stuff next year.

I think when I go into business i'm going to go with some short sleeves dickies button up shirts. Look sharp, long lasting.

One thing i've noticed with other companies is complex logos on the shirts and small logos.

In advertising less is more. Large and simple with your contact # and company name clearly visible.

Heres a sample, probably go with a different color though:

You are out of your mind. Long sleeves in this hot and humid Florida weather is a heat stroke waiting to happen. I will agree that long sleeves and work slacks does look good, but not practical in the middle of summer. I also agree, blue jeans and this type of work do not mix.

Blue jeans would be the absolute worst thing to wear. I don't know how guys do it. Matt wears Dickies in the spring and fall, and khaki shorts in the summer. He used to hate to wear shorts, getting grass on his legs, and having rocks etc hit his shins. But he just sucks it up now and wears shorts, as it's too hot for pants. I could only imagine how unbearable it would be wearing pants in Florida.

A black shirt :( I quit. When It's hot it's 100% cotton for me, last time I looked at Dickeys they were 60% (I think)

I purchase 100% 6 ounce cotton bright yellow tee shirts silk screened with my company name on the left breast, the crew members' name on the right breast and across the rear in huge letters is my company name.
Uniform pants are green in color used commercial pants I buy on-line for $3.00 per pair, I get a good deal because I buy 4 dozen at a time.
For cooler weather the crews are provided with 100% cotton sweatshirts, grey in color, with the same layout as the uniform shirts.
Additionally, uniform jackets are provided, again layed out the same.
I crunched the numbers concerning buying the uniforms verse renting them from Cintas or some other like company.
Right now, with nine employees I have crossed the threshold and it ends up being less expensive to rent than buy.
With-in the next month or so I will be changing over to a uniform company.
In your case I think a good quality screened tee shirt is the way to go until you are in a position to rent uniforms.

Yeah sometimes you have to cover up from the Sun. But I don't know how those arabs wear those kirkyjerkies or whatever they're called.

The last few businesses I worked for made us buy our uniforms. Wether it was a certian style such as khaki pants, tucked in polo or whatever. Or something with the company logo on it, they would make the employees pay for it. Say a polo with the company logo cost $20 to the company. They would buy different sizes and keep them in stock. When a new employee was hired they would break the cost down per paycheck. So $5 per paychek for 4 paychecks. Maybe its something to try to keep your bottom line better, and they can keep the uniform after they are termed with the company. Also when they ruin one they have to replace it :)

What I'm talking about, cpel2004, is it's too fncking hot and humid to wear long sleeves in the middle of summer. Do you wear a jacket and mittens too? If you wear long sleeves in the summer, that's ******ed, IMO. And what does hedge trimming have to do with clothing?
And the name is Grits, not Grit :nono: .......get it right.

No, I have never heard of sun cancer. Sounds like an astrological sign. Am I close?:hammerhead:

I CHOOSE to take my chances with the sun than fall out from a heat stroke.
And why do you have to bring Mexicans into this? I've never heard of a Mexican with skin cancer. Oh!!!! SKIN, That is probably what you meant by SUN cancer. I have heard of skin cancer.

When i was in the field i always wore pants and a long sleeve shirt, and gloves...mainly cuz i was the chemical applicator...kinda the law  Pushing a spreader and pulling a hose may not sound as hard as trimming or edging but i've done both in my life and i'm hear to say that it can be and that long sleeves and pants really isn't that bad. Farmers where long sleeves all the time and proclaim its actually cooler! Now i'm not sure about the Florida heat, and how our kansas 105 degree days stack up to them but I'm still alive and kickin. You can't show up in blue jean shorts and a cut off t-shirt that has some community colleges football mascot on it and expect someone to take you as a serious professional. We allow our guys to wear Khaki Shorts and a company provided shirt, but thats as low as we go. Just how we roll..... :walking:

No ****. But you don't have to wear long sleeves and pants for them to take you as "a serious professional" either.

i'm on the delaware caost....it has been hot 90+ and humid. i always wear long pants (dickies) and my long sleeve logo'd t-shirt. much better to be protected by the sun. if i get hot, i grab a hose and wet my sleeves. does the trick for me. i tried using sun block and short sleeves and shorts. i can't stand all the dust and grass clippings sticking to me. just think of all the chemicals in the grass soaking into you all day....a double whammy for cancer.

also, my logo t-shirt is white...i though that would be a good idea to work against the sun but does not look too professional with dirt and grass stains accumulating thru the day. i'm gonna get a new color next year.
