New sod on a 80x120 lot. Alot of beds to go around and a fence around the back to trim around. I bid 36 and lost it because the sod was not really attached firmly and I wanted to wait til Monday or Tuesday at least. Its mowed by someone else now and I lost it for trying to be careful. I get a kick out of these guys saying they wont unload for less than 40 or even 60. I think its all hogwash.

So, 9600 sf for $36.00 is average price I would say. How could you make $4,500.00 week just cutting grass is not possible on a three man crew!

How did the other guy do with the mowing?
We've got a couple commercial properties around town that are new w/ sod. One of them was mowed by another LCO really low the first time and burned right up. One that we mowed, we mowed at 4" the first few mows, then gradually got down to 3", and it is as green and full as ever. Personally, I hate mowing sod, b/c it is always alot rougher on the equipment the first few mows until things settle and smooth out.

Looks like they mowed it at 3 to 4 inches and that was yesterday so its still green. The woman is sprinkling it good but we are in a drought so maybe it will fry. I could feel a piece lift right up when I pulled on it. That was why I wanted to wait and my thanks from that woman was to dump me.

Call them to follow up in a few weeks or a month from now...they may be unhappy with whoever they hired and you never know. I've gotten a few customers back that cancelled for various reasons (usually price) I call them and see if they are happy and often they are not. Certainly doesn't hurt to call.
