I am working, my holiday is in the winter. I wish I could take the time off, but unfortunatly that would really put me behind.
Unless someone could talk the grass into taking a holiday too!

I'm working, but not on customer stuff. I've got a project in progress, remodeling one of my plow trucks to accomodate a tailgate spreader and custom flatbed. And it's NOT going well!

No one in the office to bother me while doing paperwork.

I have to agree with JAA on this one.
Although I like to bang my head against the dash between sites while mowing to heavy metal, I enjoy listening to classical music while doing work in the shop or wading thru the files in the office.
The girls and their mother have gone to CA for a last minute vaca to see Grandma before going back to school. My brother is due in later tonight so I stayed behind to see him, havent seen him in over 3 years.
Late night at the bars, and late start at the office tomorrow am. Then it'll be a "remember when" afternoon with he and my other brothers.

Here in south east Texas it has been raining for about six days so we are just a little behind. As of now we still have a 40 percent shot at rain tomorrow. At this point I almost would not care, it would save me the holiday pay. We also had trenched a yard last monday for an irrigation system,... needless to say its going to be a muddy mess. Normally we would not work but, weather permitting we will be.

Always work Monday's, but I have Thur. Fri. Sat. Sun off everyweek. Unless it is extra work.
The only time I would not work on Monday, Tuesday, Wed. is if there was a emergency, or Thanksgiving, or Christmas.
I really like those Monday holidays. Out on the site, at least comercial ones all by yourself. No one to hurry you or hassel you.
But I am usually done by 1 pm anyway.

Under these conditions i might actually enjoy the opportunity to blow the clippings into the lot and do so just as a means of personal gratification -LOL!!!
Enjoy your day tomorrow everyone!

Ahhh Commercial accounts are great on holidays. I have 2.5 days worth of them and can usually work through them quicker on a holiday. Not worrying about where the clippings go is great. No cars or people.
I find it to be relaxing. plus I spent today with the family.

We might be working Monday, depending on the weather. Most of my customers yards have been flooded out. We have had almost 14 inches of rain this week, non stop. I would like to catch up, but there is a 70% chance of rain tomorrow. We'll see.

I'm a solo operator with 8 hours of work today. This will be my busiest week ever so there are no openings in the schedule to do the work on other days. The only jobs I would skip would be if I show up and they're having an outside party.
I have to finish up my big comm. that I start on sunday. I'm debating whether or not to do any res. yards today. You guys that take off, enjoy your day.

no work today:D ,for you guys working today that's great if you want to but what about your employees do they want to? I can see if you've had a lot of rain you would want to catch up,but if not you should be able to schedule around a 3 day weekend.

I woke up at 9:30 this morning. Read a book for about 30 minutes and fell back to sleep for about an hour. Now I'm here. I never considered working today. Since I'm in mostly residential I don't want to be there when most are home. Too much talking and not enough working.

I've got work to do but the mulch man is closed today.
Edger is waiting to be picked up from the shop, but they're closed too...
I could buy some fert from Lesco but it's a holiday for them too.
I'm mostly res and everyone is home.
The traffic is thick w/ drunken outta staters on the road with the all the other beach maniacs enjoying thew weather
I'm convinced! It must be a holiday!
But I will have to make up for it tomorrow!

Cut one commercial account today to get out of way for tomorrow. Full, full day of fertilizing tomorrow.
Got my wife out to help with mowing for first time ever. Got her edging, trimming, working the backpack blower, and the ZTR. First time on the ZTR. Have a section in back where the lines can be a little less than par if they turn out that way. She was amazed at how difficult it was at first to go in a straight line! Duh, I told her. You think it's so easy making properties look nice. She has a little more respect now. She had fun though and thought it was neat zoomin" around. She did pretty good after a little while. Maybe I will sub her out to myself and stay home!
Just a nice leisure day of cutting with her. A little different than the normal bust a$$ day. Maybe not as profitable but what the hey, it's only one day!

A couple of the crew wanted off, so I let them off. The rest of us went out and mowed 3 Meijer stores. (a little larger than Super Targets) They always get done on Monday and I wouldn't know how to reschedule them into the remainder of a busy week, so I'm glad they're done, and we're current:)
I took the crew to Red Lobster when we were finished.

Heck ya we're working monday! We mow 20-25 lawns per day per crew. If we didn't work Monday, we'd be a whole day behind and be behind for the rest of the week. Then, we'd end up working next Saturday. We'd all rather be working on a Monday than a Saturday.
And I don't see most of my customers being bothered by our service if they happen to be home. I've never had anyone mention it being a problem in the last 7 years. We always work weekday holidays (except Christimas and T-day).

We went from famine to feast with 2.34 inches of rain last Wed. and its raining right now[sun. am.]. 50 people need thier lawns cut all at once. I am amazed at how FAST the lawns recovered. Right now there are several tropical stoms brewing in the atlantic and the out look for rain in the drought stricken north east is good. Hell ! yeah I'll work 1/2 day to keep up.

I am going to work if the weather cooperates. Gave all my guys the day off though.
I have one job that I cut personally once a month. It's a Christmas Tree Farm, bout 6 1/2 to 7 acres total. I normally do it with one of our Toro 72" Groundsmasters. All of the trees are nicely spaced apart and there is virtually no triming. So what the heck, do it and be done before noon.

I will be working. Already checked with most of my customers back on Memorial Day, no problems. If someone is having a party (customer or neighbor) probably skip and try to catch back up Tuesday first thing. Grass is growing good here, again and everybodys back on schedule. Hate to go and screw that up again.:dizzy: Marc
