The Jd skid steer just turned over 1,000 hours today. With only two days in the shop. When I went to the dealer to look at it, I didn't think it would be that good, but I said lets give Jd a try. And boy it really turned out good. Now I'm just waiting to turn over 2,000 hours. I trade my skidders in at 3,000 hours give or take a few hundred. Things I noticed about it is, good power, great lifting ability, smooth ride, really stable, there isn't much boom sway:) easy to change oil, filters. Well lets see how it does in the next 1,000 hours:weightlifter:

They use to get a bad rap on this website especially the early 200 series. Around where we live you see everything from the early 200 series all the way up to the 300 series. Around here everyone seems to love them. I have the 250 Series II and am very pleased.

I do still see a lot of the 200 series skids around here, most of them are run by big outfits in landscape or demolition. I know guys I have talked to like their Deeres. To each their own. Glad to hear you have had good luck with your machine.

Thanks. As you all know it's a 2005 317.

I hear you guys saying early 200 series...how will I know the difference between an early 200 series and a newer one? I have never shopped for a skid before so please excuse my ignorance!

So I don't want an early 200 series?

The early ones where known for problems but they came out in 99. By now all the updates that where having problems should have been fixed. Easiest way to tell an early 200 series from a 200 Series II is it will say on the decal at the bottom below 240,250,260,270,280 Series II at the back of the boom on each side of the machine.

Thanks Fieldman and to all that gave input.

Hope they sell right and maybe I will own one by the end of the week.

THANKS!

Well the deere now has over 2,000 hours on. The only problem i've had since the 1,000 hour mark was the park brake solenoid
