1996 F350 Transmission problem

Wondering what this is going to cost me. My '96 F350 Diesel - Automatic -
is slipping real bad in 1st gear, I doubt I have much time before I press the petal and nothing happens. And I smell burning fluid smells.

Lately, the truck has been not shifting down into lower gears. I had the transmission fluid flushed this weekend to see if it would help, it didn't.

Looks like that truck will be at the shop very soon.

Got any estimates for me?

We paid $3,500.00 for Ford re-man transmission for 2000 F350 last year.:cry:

Hate to say it but you need a rebuilt transmission and if you plan on keeping the truck get a beefed up E4OD and you will never have any problems again.

Have it updated too the 4r100 specs and run a multidisc convertor with a billet cover.
Eliminates all the problems.
My setup weighs in at 23k+ plus and I pull it everywhere with 3.73 gears.
I average 30k miles a year.

I used a Precision convertor from up in NH I think.
