Looking for help
I just purchased a Hustler 48 trimstar.
I demoed one several times on what I would call B and C lawns and everything looked great
When cutting on an A lawn, at 3.5 inches I see a rooster tail on the
left 1/3 of the cut.
I added a washer to lower the blades per the dealer, and it still exist.
Then added 2, got worse
Has anyone else had issues with this.
Thanks
Alan

Is it a fixed deck?? You also might be going to fast for the thicker grass. if i'm correct, i think the deck is only 4" deep.

It is a floating deck
and I have cut this lawn 3 times now down to 3 " and
the problem still exist.

The dealer just called and he was told by the rep that the issue is
that there is not enough air flow for the type of cutting I am doing.
They are trying mulching blades with the thought that it will increase air flow

Will try it again in the AM

There very different then the gators. they are a mulching blade that has down discharge with side discharge. some goes down while some goes out.

Look up Tony from Australia. i told him to use them on his turbo force and he was more then happy with them.

My dealer can't find rapters for an 07 trimstar,,,,,,,would you have a part #
The roostertail is less distinct but still there.
Does the rapters create more lift than gators?
Thanks for your time

Did hustler put a Funky sized blade on this mower??? they have done this in the past. i dont have a number for the rapters.

Lets try this:) Can you get a "solid lift blade" for your mower???? Not a Notch high lift type .

I still think the deck is to shallow on that mower. is it the 4" deep deck???

Hanging with you, john

The Front deckheight is 4,,,back is 5
The blades that came with them look just like my exmark high lifts
The sent me mulching one today,,,got a little better,
I still don't understand how the mulchers create more lift.
The issue looks like it is coming from the left spindle.
The other frustrating thing is that the spacers on the height adjustment
actually change the cutting height by 3/8
so if you use the 3.5 hole it is the blade height actually measures almost 4.
They should have added a spacer to the blades,,,but that is another issue.
I really like the machine controls
and my neighbor almost didn't notice the uneven cut.
It drives me crazy
Thanks again for any input
Supposable the engineers are aware of this issue

Grind some washers so your deck can be at the proper hight(higher in the rear then the front). i think the problem is with where the holes are in your hight adjustment. this is easy to fix.

Did you ask PJ??? hes good at this.

I'm still here for you:weightlifter:

I just PM'ed him
thanks

I can't believe I am the only one in this forum that is having this problem.
Tomorrow
I will recheck the pitch and remove 1 washer from the front height adjustment
to increas the angle.

Still wish someone could explain why Gators, mulchers and rapters have more lift than the high lift or standard blades.

Right now my exmark cut is better with any blade combination

I was actually thinking of the Z as my next purchase, but it should not be this much work to get A quality.

The reason I didn't buy a Wright standar was cut quality,,,,it was better than this.
Sorry about the vent, but this is avoidable and I need to run this machine
Again sorry

Is anyone running a trimstar cutting at 3.5 " not getting uncut grass on the left side?
Did it cut good straight out the door?
Did you have to do something to get it to cut.
Thanks
Alan (again)
