On a TVM220-157106G Whats the no load rpm and what kind of compression should there be? Also how much vacumn should you have in the crankcase? How can you tell if a engine is over heating? Thanks

1) I wouldn't run this engine over 3200 rpm.....

2) Depends on cylinder/ring and valve wear, Anything
above 70 lbs. the engine will run but the higher it is the
better it will run.

3) Again, Depends on cylinder/ring and valve wear. Do you
have a water manometer to test engine vacuum ?

4) Smoke rising from the engine (not from exhaust),
Excessive noise inside, Black/burnt oil, Real white dry
spark plug. If you suspect overheating remove the
flywheel cover and check for grass/debris around the
cylinder cooling fins.

Thank you restrorob
This mower was a freebee, and the man said oil was coming from the breather.
Seems like the compression was in the 50 # area.
It runs pretty good but surges at no load, so I,m gonna rebuild the carburator, was gonna replace it but they are rich, getting this going is for pleasure and not for profit. Retired and need some thing to do.
Have a gauge for vacumn and pressure
As for over heating it seems the exhaust pipe gets really hot real quick. I have had the cover off and checked for trash but not the flywheel. And the plug is dry and grey, no noise, maybe even white, plug that is.
The tecumseh hand book even mentioned that carbon under the head as a possible sourse for running hot. Thanks
I will keep you posted on my progress, or failure
