106.5 The Wolf (Country if I can get it). It pays off too. I won some Toby Keith tickets a month ago, but couldn't go because I was going out of town.

It's called "ear plugs". I'd rather stay focused on my work than some music. Music is for the ride between accounts.

There is nothing like hearing this when you have 4 to 6 Lazers hovering in on an apartment complex.

Well, on some lawns that are bigger, I will listen to country. On smaller ones that I want to go fast and get done and get out, I will listen to Metallica or Korn. Gets me in the mood to go ape sh*t lol

Dr. Laura  not really, I listen to a bit of everything. I have really enjoyed classical lately, it needs to be something fast though like gladiator or something of that nature.

I think its a good audio program but so far it's more for people who have a job. Not self employed, though he does say he'll get to us. Lots of good examples if you're stupid (like me) and need things drilled into your head.
I really like the idea of not going into debt but.... I sure would like a 3/4 ton (used) with a front plow and a pull plow before winter hits. Please No more snow blowers for me:cry:

I listen to my I-Pod once in a while, Mostly when I have an easier straight forward day cutting grass. I cut grass somedays solo while my guys are on other jobs but on the days that I have a crew out with me I try not to listen to music...I'd rather hear whats going on.
My I-pod is loaded with anything from Johnny Cash to Brad Paisley, Ice Cube to 50 Cent, CCR to Metallica, Aerosmith to Creed. As you can see anything from classic Country to Modern Top 100. Depending on the mood, depending on the work, depends on what Im listening to.

I got one of those Stilletos, (about the size of an ipod) from Sirius and listen to that while mowing. Its pretty cool. Get to listen to commercial free music in the mornings, and in the afternoon listen to Bubba the Love Sponge on Howard 101. Any of you who listen to Sirius know who I'm talking about. He's a no rules, no holds barred guy that does all kinds of crazy things on the radio.

Im thinking about buying a 30 gig ipod and loading it up with everything, including some audio books (great idea viking!). Also, they have some ear muff radio/mp3 players on Ebay where you can plug the mp3 player into it.
Seems like a GREAT investment for me....
and whoever said they dont listen to music while they cut because they need to focus on their work should remain that way for a few more years, obviously you are new to the industry. newbies, i tell ya

Listening to music while on a machine means the operator has no hearing protection. First warning is verbal, second is a mandatory day off with no pay, third is termination.
Same with safety glasses and other uniform violations.
Now what the guy(s) and girl(s) listen too while on lunch break is irrelevant to me as long as the truck windows aren't vibrating.

that is a pretty hard core rule. Hearing protection? im pretty sure listening to mowers all day unprotected (assuming that an mp3/music player weren't being used as a muff) would be pretty hard on the hearing.
i would never work for your company.
if you are a true professional, vibrations and sight would be your guiding factors.
you cant hear $hit when your running a mower with ears exposed.

JJ, I don't care if you never worked for my company.
All of my employees, me included, wear hearing protection on anything larger than a 21" walk behind mower and when using any type of powered hand equipment.
I never said the crews are operating without ear protection or other safety gear - and my rules are not hard core.
Try explaining to a workman's comp board about how you let slide the mandatory use of safety gear which resulted in the hearing loss/damage the employee is claiming.
I pay over six grand per year just on workman's comp insurance for my nine employees and myself, and I am not about to allow any delinquent attention to rules to cause my rates to go hirer.
And if I want a "professional's" opinion, I'll ask one and not you.

I usually like to listen to techno music while i work, it gets me pumped.
anyone know some good techno?
What do you guys/gals listen to??
Same here, the following genres tend to work well also:
mix / remix / radio edit / disco / dance / club / dj - These are mostly originals re-done for night clubs with a tough beat.
More variations and combinations exist such as club mix, disco remix, club edit, radio mix, midnight remix, you get the idea.
Electronica is almost like techno, and indie can turn out some interesting tunes.
Then there are certain DJ's you can check out such as Nathan Fake, here's a small list I found doing a search (notice the names of the songs, they hold clues on how to refine searches further):
http://haphaat.web.elte.hu/mp3/
The search used was:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%3Fintitle%3Aindex.of%3F+techno+.mp3&btnG=Search
I think the little list is 3rd result down, sometimes you gotta search for a while but this came right up.
The first result might be worth looking into but it's mostly .swf's and .wmv's (I think flash files or videos or something along those lines).
But this was in there http://www.the009.com/misc/media/The009%ae%20-%20Em%20Techno.mp3

If an mp3 player were hooked up to these, would the employees be reprimanded?
It IS hearing protection, is it not? :cool2:

I listen to anything but opera and gospel. rap, rock r&b, big band, classical, dance country, it all depends on mood.
and about Shakira her videos are like watching porn but the music is not as good.

Yeah man, I was going to leave another post mentioning trance having a few good tracks (thou some put u to sleep), also alternative... I just got tired of the same 1,000 songs on the radio being played over and over, radio is ok for a month or two then it gets repetitive and boring. Store bought cd's are another nightmare, 1 or 2 good songs, the rest is filler.
Believe it or not, r&b and country hold several tracks worthy of mention, blue grass also, but I like my stuff re-done.
I did a LOT of research into the techno section, much like the thread starter (was that you?) I found it pumps me up, I bring myself to the edge of passing out and keep myself there listening to that while working, nothing gets the job done faster
For this to work I needed an Extreme Sports mp3 player, I like the belt-on cd players myself because I can fit 100-120 mp3 songs on one disc, and I always said to myself if I can make my Sony ATrax3 skip, it means I'm working hard enough.
I don't do it once the temps go much past 80 thou, 40-60f is my favorite temperature for this :p
