I would turn the area into a sunken garden, build a retaining wall around with steps going into, sitting benches on either side of steps looking a cresent moon shaped pond feature opposite the stairs.

I doubt I'll get a new yard to do it after we sell, but I thought of a pond to wade in. One company called Big Boy Ponds west of Portland, Oregon, had one in his back yard that they could lay in.

My idea, was to set up a grid of black pipe on the roof, or to make a fence out of intricately assembled pipe (a grid) to pump water through in the summer. That would pick up solar heat and the become discharged back into the pond.

It would be too warm for fish, and maybe plants.

Anyway, it was one idea.
