I was cutting a convenient store this afternoon and the ugliest thing I ever saw was sitting on a trailer at a gas pump. I mean it was UGLY. You don't see these around here any, but it was UGLY.
My guys stopped weedeating and checked out this thing because it was SO UGLY. Guess what it was.

I forgot to mention it was a Dixie Chopper. I sure hope they cut as good as they say because man this thing was UGLY!

Yep that was it, a strange sight around here- no dealers that I know of even close, the only difference it had knobby tires on back, kinda like atv tires.

So can your pretty mowers make lawns look much better than the ugly mowers can? If so, please post them so we can see them.
I think all mowers are ugly, but as along as they make me money and keep on going for thousands of hours, who the heck cares what they look like. At least the main parts you see on them do not rust.

They are a strange sight, once you get used to seeing them they probably are as common as an exmark, point I was making is you rarely see one around here. I agree all mowers are ugly with that one hitting a 10 on the ugly scale, I'd rather look at a pretty blonde anyday. No harm intended just cracking on you chopper guys. I need to get a digital camera so I can put up some pics, Truth is, I can't seem to get the exmark or scag to put stripes that good in St. Augustine or Centipede -so I guess you win on the stripes. I think you northerners grasses just stripe better.

yo eric!--one of the several problems I would have in showing you stripes and cuts like that is I aint got no grass to cut like that!
and if anybody else does then I missed it when they posted the pic!
zip, zilcho, zingo, NADA when it comes to grass that nice!

Exmark! I look like the looks of Exmark. The Lazer Z EPS looks pretty cool. Gotta come up with $11,000 now...LOL.

After you find the $11,000 you need to think about a name change. ;)

When I was a jet mechanic in the Navy everyone knew that a chopper squadron was the worst to be in. Always breaking down and a lot of maintenance. haha. :p
Just kidding. I really like the choppers.

Looks like a money makin' SOB to me!
When I go to my dealer there is ALWAYS, AND I MEAN ALWAYS, something red in the shop!
It ain't makin' no money in there for the owner.
When you get the opportunity to demo one do it, you'll change your mind about what's pretty and what ain't.

I have a chariot and personally they Dixies look the coolest to me out of any oh they commercial mowers. As a matter of fact thats all i used to look for before i got into this biz because i liked to catch a glimpse of them in operation. Call me crazy, maybe i am, but i like em!!! LOL

When I first saw one in a picture, I thought it was ugly too. But when I looked at a couple in "real life", they didn't look as bad.
When I started looking at the engine and drive system, and pictured doing maintenance, or working on it - it started looking pretty good.

Who cares what they look like when they mow as good as they do, I mean we are just mowing lawns and not putting them in a beauty padget or anything. I'll take my "ugly" DC over any "good looking" mower anyday!!!

Dixies seem to have a face that only a mother could love! Eric, the mower is ugly, the stripes are not.... one serious question is could you not make as nice a stripe with any other mower with a striping kit or equivelant on it? Those stripes don't come included in the purchase price of a dc, they are your babies alone.

Yeah, the things look like they've had the ugly tree fall on them a couple of times, but if they'd give me the same cut Eric gets, I'd definately buy one.
Here's a theory I have on Eric's stripes....I think Eric somehow buys Obsessive Compulsive mowers, and if they don't cut straight they do it over or something. Just a thought...;)
Dang, what a BEAUTIFUL mower you have there!
I wish mine had one of those cool "pot-bellied stove" smokestack thingys poking up from behind the seat! :D

When your motor pukes at 1500 hours, you probably will wish you had one on yours.

Ah yes, the De Lorean of mowers. (all the stainless steel and all) One nice thing about that, is every once in a while you can take a Brillo pad to it when washing, and it comes out like brand new! As far as Eric and his Choppers getting picked on so often, this wouldn't happen if he was not as well liked around here.:p

I saw one of those Suburbin Turbin's in action. Man that thing makes some noise!!! That thing cuts foot high grass with ease. The guy running it wasn't wearing any hearing protection, I guess he wants to go deaf!!!:) ;) :) ED

EJK2352 I heard they are going to put twin 23's on them next year. You never have to much horse power. :p
Here in central Florida every sixth car or truck has a Dixie Chopper or John Deere on a trailer. Good dealers here to.

I was not kidding!
I tried to get one but Donelson doesn't offer it for the 23 Kawasaki..or so my dealer told me. :(
Maybe next year after Exmark hits the 1 billion units ( in 23/60) sold mark. :D

With a roll bar and some nice VW type stinger headers, it would look a lot like a dune buggy - I think I'll go into the aftermarket accessories biz.

I think they are kinda cute but did't know why. Now I know! Maybe someone could just put a VW engine on one, headers and all. WOW AWSOME Now it would sound cool, too

;) Hey Guys........
What version of ADOBE PHOTOSHOP do you use on those stripe photos? ;)
My Mother and my sister mow there own grass with pretty red and green machines. I'm full grown, Been to 2 rodeos and 3 county fairs--- I use XWD26-00 and XW-2300 's, let the women and kids use what they like!
Anything that can lay down stripes like that looks pretty good to me. Eric, my hats off to you. My stripes look OK but I sure wish I could mow as straight a line as you. Of course just to get my scag to stripe at all, I had to make a chain kit and then I put doubles on it. Hell, my mowers pumpkin orange and its got an ugly name! (SCAG) But I'm kinda partial to 'er. I guess we all like the machines we ride the best. (even if they are a little ugly!) I know my wife has no appreciation for the way any of them look. I'll point one out to her on a trailer or mowing and she comments on it with a "uh huh" or "oh thats nice" but she really doesn't get it. She's just being nice. I guess they are all ugly to her. Just my opinion.

Who cares what it looks like as long as it cuts well and doesn't break often. If it works...congrats
You know...come to think of it...
