I just finished rebuilding the carburetor on a Briggs 407777 (Intertek 20hp V)engine, put it all back together and the rpm maxed out. After lots of troubleshooting, pulled the engine, removed the sump and the governor gear was laying loose in the bottom. The real problem is, the shaft was still in it. I assume the shaft is supposed to be pressed in, but the fit is not that tight. Any suggestions on how to re-attach the shaft without replacing the block? Will something like JB Weld do the trick? Any advice would really be appreciated. Thank you.
